Reasons to go to a Local Show

Here are some reasons I think you should go to a local show.

Atmosphere

  • You can't find an environment like this anywhere else. A local venue has an aura to it that you just can't get enough of.
Friends
  • I've connected with friends, made new ones, and just had a great time with old ones at local shows. At local shows you can find real people just like you. You make friends for a life time at local shows.
Relaxation
  • Watching a local band on stage and feeding off the energy around you relaxes you. You don't have a care in the world when at a local show. Forget all your worries.
Real Musicians
  • Watching or listening to your favorite band can be fun, but you don't know who that band really is. You meet the artists at local show, and you see they are normal people just like you. Everyone is the same at a local show. The artists enjoy the show and the music just as much as you do.
Over all a local show is something every person should experience. Don't just take my word for it go see one. Find a local band on Myspace and see what shows are coming up. There are plenty of local venues that put on great shows all the time. So go out and watch a local show.

Here's one of my favorite venues

Happy Birthday Chad

I would just like to wish Derrick Chandler Lehr a happy birthday today.

He is a one of my major influences and a major part in the Indy music scene. I would not be where I am today with out him. I would like to think him for being an amazing person.

Happy Birthday Chad!

This is Me, This is You, This is Chad

Getting knocked down and kicked around isn’t something you want to happen to yourself and is hard to rebound from. Most people get depressed and slowly come out of it, but Chandler Lehr came back fighting. Chandler, or Chad for short, was rising in Indy’s pop-punk scene with the band My Hidden Track. My Hidden Track had went through difficult time in the past with members changing but now had a solid line up. They released a CD and had been playing shows that everyone loved. Chad was part of one of the best bands in Indiana then got stabbed in the back. He was kicked out of his own band. This couldn’t have been easy on anyone. Working so hard and getting so far then it all gets taken away, but Chad didn’t let his set backs in life stop him. He took his situation and didn’t his old life stop him from being friend with members of MHT. He took his situation and showed how amazing he is.

This is where This is Me was born. Taking a look at him self Chad wanted to create something that was him. Taking from his influences in Say Anything and Hot Rod Circuit, Chad started to create songs about himself and his life. He wrote from his heart. Creating melodic guitar riffs with his rough voice make beautiful songs while still hitting hard. Even though he played new songs at his first acoustic show back, he still captivated the crowd into his life with his emotional lyrics. Getting his fans singing along to new songs people barely or didn’t know with out in trouble showed he was doing it right. Then Chad took it  a step further.

This is Me  has grown in size to a full band. Chad took members of other bands in the Indy region to create what I believe is one of the best bands out of Indy. With Andy Heck on drums, Jari Nation on guitar, Dylan James on synth/keys, and Carter Seaton on bass, This is Me hits harder than every before with the same musicality of just Chad. All the members have pushed this band to untold regions of music and are going to go even further.

Anyone into great pop-punk/punk-rock music should check out This is Me. I highly recommend you listen to there music.
